Equine Photo Shoots
My approach to equine photo shoots is to offer every rider a personal service, to take high quality photographs and to produce images they can cherish for life.
For me, documenting the friendship you have with your horse is about capturing the time you’ve spent together over the years, the love you share and the personal affections you have as a result of this.
Before your session
The photographs from your session could be a simple series of photographs of your horse on his or her own, such as a range of portraits and close up photographs along with ‘at liberty’ photographs of your horse in his/her field. You may like to have a photo session with lots of fashion orientated themes and have a couple of outfit changes to create a portfolio of photos. You may want some flatwork or jumping photos, some very natural photos, or a mixture of everything!
The location of the photo shoot is very important and I am happy to meet you where ever your preferred choice may be. Most people have their sessions at their yards where their horse is relaxed and we can work with the natural surrounding. A trip to a local beach, a bluebell woodland, on top of the Downs or anywhere else can create a completely different set of photos.
The first step is to give me a call or an email and we can discuss where you would like to have your photo shoot, the type of photographs you would like and the ideal time of year to do the shoot. Once we have a date in mind we will put this in the diary a deposit is required. A couple of days before we will decide whether the weather is good enough for the shoot. If rain or heavy cloud cover is forecast I would rather postpone as I would much rather delay the shoot and take lovely, bright photos that you can treasure.
On the day of your session
I never book two sessions in for one day unless they are at the same yard or the locations are very close together to ensure I am on time and focused on producing the best photos I can for each rider.
On arrival I’ll first come and meet you and your horse then show you my portfolio which has a blend of different styles and approaches. This is a good last minute opportunity to run through the photos that you’d like to have taken and reassure you of any concerns you may have.
As the session begins and progresses I’ll suggest a range of different photographs to you, from portraits, to candid photos and emotive themed photographs depending on what we agreed prior to the session. You are more than welcome to have ridden photographs and these can include any discipline, I have top level experience photographing most disciplines.
I like to end the session with some photographs of you either boxing your horse up if you’re not at home, or turning your horse out in his or her field and then taking ‘at liberty’ photos - these shots aren't essential if you'd rather not have them taken.
After your session
After the session I will dedicate time to edit up all your photographs, only removing the photos where either you or your horse has blinked, the moment has been missed or the expression not quite right.
Once the photos have been edited I will contact you so we can arrange a date to meet for me to show you the photographs in a viewing session. Most viewings tend to take place in the evening and at the riders home when the family can all have a look at the pictures at the same time. This relaxing viewing gives us the opportunity for:
You to see high resolution, unwatermarked copies of your photographs.
For you to see the outcome samples that I have and to discuss the type of products you would like. - You don't need to order on the night but if you order with in two weeks you'll receive 20% off!
For me to give you a cased DVD with all of the edited image at low resolution with my watermark on.
